Donna Noble waited. For an explanation, if anything. She pondered about all she had been through, with the Doctor, and if this was the last time they would ever meet again. She thought about what the Doctor had once said to her, about destiny drawing them together. Too flippin' right! she muttered to herself. She was grateful to be with him as at least she had someone to be with her, but all the same, she was bored to death. Neither her nor the Doctor knew why she was brought here, where time stood still. And it was beginning to drive them a little bit mad. They talked, and waited, but nothing happened. Years could have passed them by, decades, and still nothing! The Doctor had a brief idea of who was in control, she could tell, but no matter how hard she tried to really talk to him, he wouldn't reveal the most important. As the bride-to-be gazed into space, a shape appeared. A body, cloaked in black. The Doctor stood up and walked towards it, without any hesitation. He advised her to have a wander around while the two talked, which she did, but slowly curiosity grew within her, and Ms.Noble returned to hear half of the conversation...

To see her again, to make that noble return, to hug her tight, to share a joke, to tell her his darkest secrets, to be told he was wrong perhaps by someone wiser than he when it came to the small facts of life, to have a best friend he never imagined he could have...
The most seemingly harmless of  friendships is in fact, the most deadly of them all. So he wondered, have I -really- escaped hell? Because seeing her look up at him, asking why their travels had to end...It was torture.

Imagine a place, of nothingness. Peaceful it might seem to the human eye, in fact, any ordinary human might have thought it was a heaven. They wouldn't be too far from the truth, as this place, this peaceful place was nothing more than light and silence. Of course, the Doctor had never been one to fall for a religious idealism, but even he, hadn't a clue of where he he had landed. It had only been seconds from the regeneration, seconds from the change, and here he was. Had his body changed? His face? No, nothing. Not one detail. But that wasn't his main concern...As standing right in from of him, was the plucky young girl who helped him out, so long ago. Donna Noble.

There he stood, in the Ship that has witnessed more goodbyes than he has changed face. There he stood, holding onto every last second I had of this memorable life. He didn't want to let go, how could he? Everything he's done...He knew he could do so much more. All those glorious, victorious days of defeating terrible creatures and saving planets...He liked it. He -loved- it. He loved being this man, he loved having found those dear companions of his. He loved it all. Oh, the idea of regenerating might sound relieving, but it's not. He dies. In the end, He dies.

...I don't want to go.

To die, to blink out of existence, and to let some new man just stroll in and take his place...Life felt worthless. All his accomplishments felt worthless. And maybe, just maybe, that was his mistake. -Not wanting to change. He was meant to regenerate. He was "destined" for it. Because chaos lies at the heart of it all, the End of Time. "Be careful what you wish for" they say...

Hunger knows no bounds, and neither does death. The darkness, coming for him...The darkness, clawing and dragging him down like a savage beast. The silence. But he, he with immortality at his feet, he...Hears the constant drumming. Driven by madness because that noise, so loud, that noise...It's alive. It's calling from the stars.

...They are returning.

The Doctor jumped around the room, pressing buttons here and there, entering the coordinates to his next big location, just like his cheery old self. Like a kid at a candy shop! He vowed to himself, this time he would be careful, this time he'd really stay out of trouble, at all costs. So he sang, and danced, to the track (which he insisted) should be played over and over again. Which even the blue wooden box started to get annoyed of...

Don't give me that look! It's a classic!

~It is not the song that I mind, however, your singing...~

There's nothing wrong with my singing! ...Ask Farinelli.
He added proudly.

~Humans were always too kind...~

I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Oh, here comes the good bit! "Is there life on Maaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrs?"

He grinned cheekily at the console, and then they both knew, optimism was the best way to move on. The TARDIS had finally landed on the red planet. With the music now off, the Time Lord was left to explore by himself yet again. But if he had heard of the dangers to come, would time be rewritten?

He barged right into the room. Had to. First of all, his TARDIS had taken entirely too long to materialise, and second of all, he wanted to arrive with dramatic effect.

Everyone turned around, and stared at him. Just like that. Staring. Obviously they unaware of what was going on. Or of what was about to happen if he didn't stop this...
